Huge selection in stock at Fringes of Plymouth
Fringes of Plymouth have a vast stock of traditional rugs for you to choose from. With a variety of traditional designs, colours and sizes, you will be spoilt for choice.
Traditional rugs can be used in a modern home to add a touch of class. Or be the finishing touch in a traditionally inspired home. Tradtional rugs come in a variety of forms for you to choose from. We have itemised them below to make it easier for you.
What shapes are available?
Traditional rugs are typically found in the rectangle shape that we all know. But as you've probably been able to spot, they're available in all types of funky shapes these days. We have traditional rugs that are circular, square and even the odd octagon. A favourite for the traditional rug connoisseur is the combination of a rectangle traditional rug with the long and thin runner to match.
High quality and made on a machine!
Machine made traditional rugs are the highest quality that they've ever been. Machine made traditional rugs started many years ago and whilst they were still gorgeous rugs, they're nothing compared the the traditional machine made rugs of today. You can see how high a quality a machine made rug is by looking at the "point" count on the back of the rug. The higher the point count, the denser the pile and the better the quality. Most machine made rugs with a high point count will boast the amount on the label making it very easy to determine.
Do you prefer hand made?
A nice deep pile and luxurious softness is what you should expect from a hand tufted traditional rug. The pile of a hand tufted rug is typically made in China or India. Chinese traditional rugs carry ornate designs with hand carved patterns. The Indian hand tufted rugs are more floral with borders. There are of course hand tufted rugs from other countries, we find China and India to be the most popular locations for the higher quality hand tufted traditional rugs.
Easy to clean and super durable
Our selection of polypropylene traditional rugs combine the traditional patterns with modern textures. Polypropylene is the perfect material for using one of our traditional rugs in a home with high traffic. Polypropylene is an extremely durable material that has been produced to withstand even the harshest of footfall. Should you get any spillages on your polypropylene traditional rug, you will find that it will come out super easy. This is due to the stain repellant nature of the man made material.
Wool is always an option
When most people think of traditional rugs, they think of traditional methods of making said rugs. Traditional rugs of old are made usually made from wool - apart from the silk traditional rugs. We stock a huge selection of traditional wool rugs in our Plymouth based showroom.
